✴THE PORTRAIT OF A LADY : BY KHUSHWANT SINGH ✴

✨The author lived with his grandmother in the village while his parents had shifted to the city . They shared a strong bond build with love , mutual trust and friendship. She would help the author with his homework , care for him and feed him lovingly .
✨The TURNING POINT in their friendship was when they were called to the city by the authors parents . They shifted to the city and then onwards everything changed . Now they saw less of each other . The author started attending the city school . he went to school by a motor bus . Thus, the grandmother could not accompany him to the school. also he was taught Archimedes Principle, western sciences and hence she could not help him with his studies. Moreover , the thought of Music lessons was also revolting for her as she felt that music was a monopoly of beggars not meant for gentle folk.
