Explain, Methanol is more soluble in water than Propan - I - ol.

According to like dissolves like principle,

hydeophillic molecules have greater solubility in water. and in case of alcohols, the

-OH group is hydrophillic while the h.c. part is hydrophobic, so as we move to higher alcohols, hydrophobic portion increases, and hence solubility decreases,

that's why methanol is more soluble than propan-1-ol
