Devolution refers to the transfer or delegation of power from the central government of a sovereign state to its regional or local administration. It is a form of administrative decentralization. One positive effect of devolution is the rapid development of rural economies. For example, devolution in Kenya has immensely effected the development of its rural economies. Underdeveloped towns and villages have been smartened up or rebuilt from scratch while others have been shifted to house the new county government infrastructure.
