One of the major achievements of Bairam Khan was the defeat of Hemu and the Afghan forces in the second battle of Panipat in 1556 CE. Hemu was the chief minister and general of Afghan ruler Adil Shah. He was posing a serious threat to the mughal empire. He had seized control over Delhi and Ajmer after defeating the Mughal forces .
