Explain the activity of separating a mixture of mustard oil and water using separating funnel

A mixture of mustard oil and water can be separated using a separating funnel. As oil does not dissolve in water, therefore oil will float on water. now if we pour the mixture into the funnel and open the knob slowly, the water will start coming out. after sometime when all the water has come out, close the knob.
