✍️The essential parts of DC generator are same as AC generator except the slip-ring arrangements.The slip rings are replaced by commutator R1 and R2 consisting of two halves of same metallic ring. The ends of the armature (A and D ) are connected to these half rings which rotate along with the armature coil.
With this arrangement,one brush is at all times in contact with the arm moving up in the field while the other is in contact with the arm moving down.The direction of current doesn't change in the external circuit,it always flows in the same direction. So, it is direct current.
