Answer:

In an AC, or alternating current, Generator, the electrical current periodically reverses its direction. With a DC, or direct current, Generator, the current flows only in one direction. The major difference between an AC Generator and a DC Generator is that the DC Generator requires a mechanism to provide a DC output.

Devices that changes the direction of current after equal intervals of time. Such devices are called alternating generators or AC generators.

devices that does not change the direction of current after equal intervals of time, such devices are known as direct current generators or DC generators.

Mostly in India ac generators are preferred because electric power can be transmitted over long distances without much loss of energy.

This  is also an important advantage of AC generators over DC generators.
