Explain the difference between density and specific gravity

Answer:

Density is mass per volume while specific density is relative density respect to water .

Unit of density is kg/m^3 but specific density is unit less .

An example will clear it more .

If I say density is 2 gm/cm3 , it means that weight if 1 cm^3 or 1 ml substance is 2 gm .

But

If I say specific density is 2 . It means that it's density is twice the density of water .

If you don't know

density \: of \: water  \approx1 \:  \frac{gm}{ {cm}^{3} }  = 1000 \:  \frac{kg}{ {m}^{3} }
