Tropism refers to a plant growing in a particular way. There is geotropism (also heard it call gravitropism) and photo tropism.

Geotropism is what makes plants grow upright and tells its roots to grow downward.

Phototropism is simply a plant’s way of growing to get more light. Phototropism is controlled by auxin which is produced in the tips of shoots.
