Explain the major characteristics of Northern Plains of India

They include the Sindh plains, the Punjab Haryana plains, the desert of Rajasthan,the Ganga plain of uttar pradesh Bihar and west Bengal and the Brahmputra valley of Assam.It is also known as the great Northern plain of India.

1) they are drained by three major River system namely -the Indus, the Ganga and the Brahmaputra along with their tributaries

2) it spreads over an area of 7 lakh square kilometre the plane being about 2400 km long and 240 to 320 kilometre broad.

3) this plane is formed of Alluvial soil the deposition of Alluvial soil in a vast basin lying at the foothills
