The volume of the river mainly depends on the source of the river.

If the source of the river is degrading day by day ,due to many reasons, then the river volume will also decrease.

Some of it's reason are:

1) Global Warming is decreasing the volume of mountain generated rivers.

2) Lack of rainfall is decreasing the volume of rainfall generated rivers.

3) Different types of pollution and deforestation is also decreasing the volume of the rivers.
