Its main characteristics are as follows :
1. It can't be separated into its constituents elements by mechnaical or physical means.
2. It's property differ entirely from its constituents element.
3. It has a fixed melting and boiling point.
In case of Iron-sulphide , we see that it's property totally differ from property of iron and sulphur , also in formation of every iron sulphide we have the same composition of iron and sulphur only.
