Metals are those substances which donates their electron.
Ex Sodium , it will loss its 1 electron and then it will get the stability of Neon.

And non metals are those substance which accept electron .
Ex Oxygen , it will gain two electron and then get the stability of neon.

⭐️Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity, and are malleable (they can be hammered into sheets) and ductile (they can be drawn into wire).  Most of the metals are solids at room temperature, with a characteristic silvery shine (except for mercury, which is a liquid).
⭐️ Nonmetals are (usually) poor conductors of heat and electricity, and are not malleable or ductile; many of the elemental nonmetals are gases at room temperature, while others are liquids and others are solids.

⭐️⭐️Example ⭐️⭐️

Non metal---most are gases (hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, neon, chlorine, argon, krypton, xenon and radon); one is a liquid (bromine), and a few are solids (carbon, phosphorus, sulfur, selenium, and iodine).

metal---Examples of metals are aluminium, copper, iron, tin, gold, lead, silver, titanium, uranium, and zinc. Well-known alloys include bronze and steel.
