Answer:
Construction of a pinhole camera:
i) Take an ordinary rectangular cardboard box such as an empty shoebox or juice box.
ii) Cut out and remove the face of the box and cover the side with tracing paper.
iii) Secure the tracing paper properly with sellotape. This tracing paper will form the screen.
iv) Seal all the edges of the box tightly with a sellotape.
v) On the face opposite to the tracing paper, make a small hole and cover it with black paper.
vi) Again, make a tiny hole in the black paper using a sharp pin. This hole will allow light to enter the camera.
vii) Cover the hole with a paper flap when not in use.
Working of a pinhole camera:
Pinhole camera works on the principle that “Light travels in straight lines". Light from the objects enters the camera through the pinhole and goes to the screen where it forms an inverted and small image. The image has the same colour as the object. If the pinhole is small, the image will be sharp and clear. The size of the image depends upon the distance between the object and the pinhole. If the distance increases, the size of the image decreases. If the distance decreases, the size of the image increases.
