Golgi Bodies are responsible and essential for the development of acrosome of the sperm cell.

With the growth in size of acrosome, the Golgi Bodies get reduced in size and in many mature sperm cells, disappears entirely.

Acrosome is a membrane bound structure at the anterior end of the sperm cell and it appears to be involved in recognition and binding of the sperm cell to the surface of egg cell.

Acrosome contains hydrolytic enzymes and hyaluronidase is the most abundant.
