Isomorphism is a very general concept that appears in several area of a mathematics The world derives from the Greek iso, meaning '' equal '' and morphosis , meaning '' to form '' or '' to shape. '' Formally , an isomorphism is bijective morphism . Informally , an isomorphism is a map that preserve set and relations among elements.

→Isomorphous substances form crystals which have same shape and size and can grow in the saturated solution of each other.

→They have a property of forming mixed crystals.

→Isomorphous substances have same composition, i. e., they have same number of atoms arranged similarly.

Examples of isomorphous compounds are:-

(a) K2S04 and K2Cr04

(potassium sulphate and potassium chromate )

(b) ZnS04 ·7H2O and FeS04 ·7H20

(zinc sulphate and ferrous sulphate)
