Amoeba is a unicellular organism which shows holozoic mode of nutrition. It involves the following four simple steps:-
1. Phagocytosis: The food is taken in with the help of finger like projections over the cell surface called as pseudopodia.
2. Assimilation: The ingested food is then broken down into smaller particles inside the food vacuole and then diffused into the cytoplasm.
3. Absorption: The food particles are now absorbed in the cytoplasm by diffusion.
4. Excretion: The undigested or the waste material is moved to the surface separately and then excreted out of the body.
