Your question ,
Explain the types of Zero error of vernier calipers.
Answer ,
Zero error
- Zero error can be find in vernier calipers when the zero of the main scale doesn't coincides with the zero of vernier scale.
Types of zero error ,
Positive zero error
- if the zero of the vernier scale lies to the right of the main scale the error then is called positive zero error
Negative zero error
- if the zero of the vernier scale lies to the left of the main scale the error then called negative zero error
Cause of zero error
- Instrument may be defected or old.
- Correction are taken wrong.
- Instrument isn't fixed tightly.
The methods to determining these errors
The method to determining these errors involves a formula is ,
- Actual reading = Main scale Reading + vernier scale Reading - ( Zero error )
- = MSR + VSR - ( Zero error )
Calculation of zero errors
- For the calculation of positive zero error , multiply the coinciding division with the least count of vernier calipers.
- For the calculation of negative zero error, we need to subtract the coinciding division from the total number of divisions on vernier scale. Then multiply the difference by the least count.
