********************* HEY DEAR **************************

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER..........

THE ATOMIC NO. OF NITROGEN  = 7

SO,

IN FIRST ORBITAL = 2 ELECTRONS

IN SECOND ORBITAL = 5 ELECTRONS

WE CAN FIND THE VALENCY AS

 => VALENCY OF N > 4  {HERE N IS THE NO. OF ELECTRONS IN SECOND ORBITAL}

FORMULA  = 8 -  N

                   = 8-5

                   = 3

SO,

VALENCY OF NITROGEN IS 3

BUT IF ELECTRONS IN LAST SHELL ARE  N ≥ 4 THEN

VALENCY = N

**************************************************************

HOPE IT HELPS YOU..

THANKS.
