There are four types of quantum numbers with specifications of their vastness:

  1. Principal Quantum Number (n) is the Shell number of where the electron is present. It can be 1,2,3,4....... and all these denote the shells same as K,L,M,N do.
  2. Azimuthal quantum number (l) denotes the sub shell number. like s,p,d,f...with values 1,2,3,4....respectively
  3. Magnetic quantum number(m) denotes the orbital where the electron is present inside the subshell .
  4. spin quantum number(s) denotes the spin of the electron in every orbital where one should have the opposite spin than the other.
