There are mainly two ways by which crop production can be increased:
⇒ Multiple cropping: Multiple cropping is the method where more than one kind of crop is grown in a single season on a given season of land. In Palampur, Farmers first grow Kharif crops such as bajra and Jowar and later they grow potato. Then they grow rabi crops such as wheat. Sometimes they also grow jaggery.
⇒ Modern farming methods: The green revolution has brought many changes in the farming system. High yielding varieties ( HYVs ) seeds, made sure that more grain was present on a single crop. This also increased the used of tractors, fertlizers, pesticides and Harvesters.
