computer works in 3 stages -

               1) Input : the person working in the computer gives a task to do i.e. input for example .

              2) processing : the computer takes the input and sends to center processing unit (CPU) , the CPU process the input.

               3) output : the result of computer is given as output

for example -    

                     I gave input as 2 , 3 and asked computer to add the numbers . the input goes to CPU and 2+3 is calculated and the the result that is 5 is shown on screen as output.
