the process of mating of sperm with ova is called as fusion.
it takes place during reproduction.
The sperm which is a male gamet has a long tail to travel and swim forward...it gets up into female gamet know as ovum or ova or egg for fertilisation...which further creates ball of cells which is also know as zygote which divides repeatedly.
