TYPES OF CROPS IN INDIA

In India there are so many types of crops but there are 3 major types of crops in India which are Kharif, Rabi, Zaid crops:

• Kharif crops :-

The kharif crop is summer crop or monsoon crop. It includes Soyabean, Sugarcane,cotton, Groundnut, Turmeric, Paddy (Rice) etc., Kharif crops are usually sown with the beginning of first rain in July.

• Rabi crops :-

The Rabi crop is the spring harvest or winter crop in India. Major Rabi crops in India include Wheat, Barley, Mustard, Sesame, Peas etc. It is sown in October last and harvested in March- April every year.

• Zaid crops :-

This crop is grown in March to June. Some examples are Muskmelon, Watermelon, Vegetables of cucurbitacae family such as bitter gourd, pumpkin, ridged gourd etc.
