Tissue culture is the growth of plant and animal tissues in-vitro. For tissue culture aseptic conditions are required. In animal tissue culture cells are isolated from the organism and the cells are maintained in cell line at optimum temperature and gaseous mixture. Different media are used for growth of different cells which provide the optimum conditions of pH and nutrients to the desired cell. Similarly for plant tissue culture also cells are grown under aseptic conditions and grown in a medium supplemented with plant hormones.

Applications of tissue culture:

Rare or endangered plant species are conserved using tissue culture.

 Development of transgenic plants.

Cell cultures are used for making vaccines of polio, measles, mumps and rubella.

 4.  Used in stem cell industry.

Hope this helps you...:)
