•TRUE FRUIT:-

The fruit which develops only for the ovary are called true fruit.

•FALSE FRUIT:-

Sometimes floral parts , other than the ovary ,like thalamus ,calyx etc.also contribute to fruit formation.Such fruit called false fruit.

False fruit :-

A false fruit in simple words, can be defined as a fruit in the case of which the thalamus also contributes in the process of formation of the fruit.

True fruit :-

A true fruit in simple words, can be defined as a fruit in the case of which only the ovary contributes in the process of formation of the fruit.

  • Apples, cashews and strawberries are the examples of false fruits because in their case, the thalamus is also involved in the process of fruit formation.
  • Fruits are generally formed as a result of fertilisation but in some special cases, fruits are formed without fertilisation in some species.
