Ursa minor is Latin for a small bear.
According to mythology, – the King – had an affair with the maiden Callisto and had a son named Arcas.
After founding out the affair, his wife Hera tried to destroy Callisto by turning her into a bear.
While Arcas not knowing all this almost shoots her mother, but he was able to prevent the tragedy by placing them both in the sky.
So the smaller bear named Ursa Minor is represented by king and Callisto’s son, Arcas.
