hiiii,

• Meiosis is a complex type of cell division to achieve rejuvenation and recombination. It makes the way for evolution and diversity.
• Meiosis is usually associated with formation of spores ( in plants and fungi) and gametes (in animals). It occurs only in diploid cell.
• Meiosis is a type of cell division, which involves having of the chromosome number. Therefore it is termed as reduction division.
• It is a process in which the chromosome duplicate only once but cell divides twice.
• It results in formation of 4 haploid cells.
• The meiotic division involves two successive division, meiosis-1 or reduction division and meiosis-2 or equational division of both which have karyokinesis and cytokinesis phases.
• Karyokinesis includes four phases like mitosis :-
prophase1 - leptotene , zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, diakineses
metaphase 1
anaphase1
telophase1
cytokinesis 1
