Napoleon invaded 39 states. each had unique measures and weights.

 an Incident:

A merchant travelling from hamsburg to nurembur in 1833-had to travel 11 customs barrier and pay 5 percent customs to each.

Each money depended on the measure and meight of goods.

Elle – a measure of cloth different in many places.

In frankfurt – 54.7cm, mainz- 55.1 in Nuremburg  65.6cm and in fierburg 53.5cm.

Zollverein:

It removed all the trade barriers (tariff barriers on the leadership of Prussia.)

It reduced the number of currencies from 32 to 2.

Creation of railways also provided support for ease of trade

Zollverein, German word for customs union, established by Prussia in the 19th century. In 1818 Prussia began trying to create a customs union that would include other German states.

basically zollverein was a union or organisation of the traders during the 19 th century, which was done for the establishment of unification of germany...
