Explain why a metal wire or metal strip cannot be used in place of fuse wire

Generally we need a high resistance conductor for fuse. If we use a metal wire then its nk value of using fuse. As we need the fuse of low melting poing so that if overloading occurs it melts out and saves the appliances. And instead if we use metal wire it will not easily get melt so our rest expensive appliances will be in danger
