Evaporation is a process by which it absorbs energy from the atmosphere and convert liquid into gaseious state below its boiling points.Since, it abosorbs energy from the surrounding, it causes a cooling effect.
The panting of dogs is based on this concept. While they pant, the water evaporates off their tongue and causes a cooling effect This gives a relief to them.
