It had given the Government enormous powers to repress political activities. It also permitted the detention of political prisoners without trial for two years.

Rowlatt Act :-
On receiving a report from the sedition community justice Rowlatt two bills were introduced in the central legislative in February 1919 . the purpose of the bill was to club the growing up search in the country in spite of oposition from the Indians the Rowlatt Act was passed in March 1919 the act or tries the government to employees any person without trail and convict him in the court.
The Rowlatt Act implied :-
- Arrest of person without warrant .
- In camera trade.
- restriction on movement of Indian civil .
- 2 suspension of the right of Harbeas corpus.
Indians were out greeted by the Rowlatt Act :-
- The act came like a sudden blow to the Indians who were expecting self-government Gandhiji appeal to the victory to with hold his consent to such measures .
- However his appeal was ignored he started Satyagraha as a challenge to the government.
- The Rowlatt Satyagraha emerged The first all Indian struggle against the British government.
- In April 1919 the occurrence of number of demonstration in strikes in the country the British government to brutal measures to suppress the anti British struggle.
- An important features of the Rowlatt Satyagraha was Hindu Muslim Unity.
