solid have there molecules tightly packed whereas liquid have molecules loosely packed
hence solids have fixed shape but liquid and gas do not have fixed shape

Solids have a fixed shape because the molecules are fixed at one place and vibrate about their mean positions when heated whereas the fluids'(liquids and gases) molecules are not rigid and vibrate more vigorously(shake strongly) when heated.
