solids have fixed shape but liquids and gases do not have fixed shape because the intermolecular space between the atoms of solid matter is very very less, the particles just so vibratory and rotatory motion.
where is in liquid and gases particles or atoms or molecules present in the matter are not so tightly packed in fact they are loosely packed.
this change in space between the particles make them fixed and unfixed in shape.
