explain why solids have fixed shape but liquids and gases do not have shape

because intermolecular force is different. it is less in gases and high in solids.

Solids have a fixed shape because the particles in solid are held together by strong forces of attraction which keeps them together and particles in liquid and gases are held by less attractive forces and thus they don't have a fixed shape
