homologous organs have same structure but different function.eg: human forelimbs and forelimbs of a dog. they signify that the origin is same whereas analogous organs have different structure ture and same function. eg: bird wing and bathroom wing. they significant different origin. fossils are preserved traces of organisms that would have lived long ago.we get to know evolutionary relationships by studying fossils.
