SHAPE :- Epithelial cells maybe flat, cuboidal or columnar in shape.
in all cases the cells of the epithelial tissue fit tightly together leaving no space between the cells.
FUNCTION:- The epithelial tissue functions for protection (as on skin), absorption, secretion (as in intestine), sensory perception, etc.

Its five structurally distinct categories are:-
1.Squamous epithelium.
2.Stratified epithelium.
