Multiplying by 10 on both sides we get,

=> 10 x = 5.4444....  => Equation 2

Now Subtracting Equation 1 from Equation 2, we get,

=> 10 x - x = 5.4444... - 0.54444...

At the end all 4's get cancelled and we get,

=> 9x = 5.4 - 0.5

=> 9x = 4.9

Multiplying by 10 on both sides again, we get,

=> 90 x = 49

=> x = 49 / 90

Hence the rational or p/q form of 0.5444.. is 49 / 90.
