swallow chose to stay with happy prince because he was very kind and couldn't bear to see the sorrow of his people in the kingdom. he helped them every way he can by giving them ruby from his sword, sapphires from his eyes and even the gold with which he was coated. swallow chose to stay with him because he got blind and couldn't see anything because his sapphire eyes were gone so swallow chose to stay with him and helped him.
