Each and every plant and animal is essential for the survival of the bio-system. Changes in the biodiversity of a place change its bio-system.

The tiger is a carnivore and kills other animals for its survival. However, if it becomes extinct, the deer and cow population will thrive and increase in number. With such a large number of herbivores, they will graze on the green cover and in due course, there will be no plant cover. Without the roots of the plant to hold the soil in place, the place becomes prone to soil erosion.

Extinction of tiger is actually two things. It is the termination of anothervertex predator.

And it is the extinction of Tiger, the flagship species.

We'll come to the latter later.

What happens when an apex predator goes extinct: Spreading of human population caused a lot of extinctions of prime predators.

Each time there were lessons learnt. But in but most cases we decided to look away. Effects multiplied, and yet not enough that we could learn from them.

Here are a few examples: What happens when Tiger, the flagship species dies : Consequence would be very tragic.

Our aim was never to conserve just the tiger. We aimed for conservation of the Biosphere; and the delicate balance within the ecosystem.

The tiger was expected to be that charismatic species that could attract tourist people.

The tiger is an symbolic emblem, which can attract people.

Extinction is a natural phenomenon. But the rate of extinction is now phenomenal. A

n extinction that has been non-random but sustained one.

The Tiger had been trying to defend that.

At least we expected that from a generation we grew up with the adorable and amazing Sher Khan.

And if we fail to preserve this emblem any wakeup call will be doubtful.. And one day we might close to the sixth mass extinction and would repent.
