Factorising

(x+3)^2=2x+14
x^2+6x+9=2x+14
x^2+6x+9-2x-14=0
x^2+4x-5=0
x^2-x+5x-5=0
x(x-1)+5(x-1)=0
(x+5)(x-1)=0
x=-5,1
Hope you find it useful!!!

(x+3)^2 = 2x + 14

Now 2x + 14 can be written as 2(x+3) + 8

(x+3)^2 = 2(x+3) + 8

let x + 3 = y

y^2 = 2y + 8

y^2 - 2y - 8 = 0

y^2 - 4y + 2y - 8 = 0

y(y-4) + 2(y-4) = 0

y - 4 =0 , y + 2 = 0

y = 4, y = -2

x + 3 = y

x + 3 = 4, x + 3 = -2

x = 1, -5
