factorize using factor theorem y³-2y²-29y-42​

By factorization of , the factors are (y+3)(y-7)(y+2)

Solution:

By trial, f(1) ≠ 0,f(-1) ≠ 0,f(2) ≠ 0,f(-2) = 0

Hence y+2 is a factor.

f(-2) = (-8) – 2(4) + 58 – 42  

f(-2) = -16 + 58 – 42  

f(-2) = 0
