Feather is dropped on the planet other than earth which has very low acceleration due to gravity from a height of 1.40 meters. The acceleration of gravity on the other planet is 1.67 m/s2. Determine the time of feather to fall to the surface of the other planet

We have,

Final velocity (v) =  ?

Initial velocity (u) = 0

Distance covered (s) =1.40

Acceleration (a) = 1.67 m/s2

 

V2=u2+2.a.s

Or, v2 = 0+2 x 1.67 x1.4

            =4.676

 Or,  v = 2.16 m/sec

 

now,

v=u+at

or,  t = (v-u)/a

        =(2.16-0)/1.67

        =1.294 sec
