Solution

the vertices are (2,7),(1,1)&(10,8)

now the area enclosed by the triangle is

$= \frac{1}{2} (2(1 - 8) + 1(8 - 7) + 10(7 - 1)) \\ = \frac{1}{2} \times ( - 14 + 1 + 60) \\ = \frac{1}{2} \times 47 \\ = \frac{47}{2} \\ = 23.5 \: unit {}^{2}$
