HEY MATE HERE IS YOUR ANSWER!!!!!

SP=RS40.
Loss percent=5, I.e.,Loss = 5%

Now,
let c.p.be Rs 100

As there is loss of 5, so,...
S.p=Rs 100-5=Rs95.

Again,
let the c.p be $'x'

Now, make the proportion as,
100/x =95/40.
cross multiply,
95x = 4000
x=4000/95
x=42.105

hence, c.p=$42.105.

Your answer

Given,

SP = ₹ 40

loss % = 5

cp = \frac{100 \times sp}{100 - loss\%} \\ \\ \: \: \: \: \: = \frac{100 \times 40}{100 - 5} \\ \\ \: \: \: \: \: = \frac{4000}{95} \\ \\ \: \: \: \: \: = 42.105
Hence, CP = ₹ 42.105
