The effective resistance is 8 ohm.

Parallel combination of two 4 ohm = 2 ohm

Parallel combination of 6 ohm and 12 ohm  = 4 ohm

Adding all we get = 1+1+2+4 = 8 ohm


1411prasang11: ans can be 2 also because i think in the two parralel cases is the zero resistance wire through which all the current passes so effective resistance will be 2 ohm
GauravGUPTA91: Bro you are confusing. There is No such concept because there is no such information in the question. So it would considered as a normal circuit.
GauravGUPTA91: The current will divide in definite ratio in the parallel combination and will again combine. Thus the current remain constant before the combination and after the combination.
