For converting a galvanometer into an ammeter, a shunt resistance of small value is used in parallel, whereas in the case of a voltmeter a resistance of large value is used in series. Explain why?

because in case of ammeter u want max current to pass thought it so u decrease the net resistance whereas in case of voltmeter u need to bypass the current jst to measure the voltage across it so u increase its resistance so that min current passes through it
