Corrosion is a process that occurs when a metal object is exposed to open air that is where there is plenty of oxygen and bad weather.It is a natural process that occurs when a refined metal is converted to a more chemically stable form.Some of the household items that are mostly protected from corrosion include; an aluminum spoons,an aluminum "sufuria" ,an iron spoon,iron-made water tap,an aluminum kettle among others.

However corrosion can be prevented by use of various corrosion resistant materials.They include;

• By use of iron and steel-This is whereby these two metals are mixed with a less reactive metal such as chromium and magnesium to form to non-rusting alloys.
• Coating ion or steel with zinc to protect corrosion of the iron or steel metal.This is called galvanizing.This therefore forms a zinc oxide layer that does not peel off like iron or steel.
• By use of chromium or silver electrolytic deposition which is considered more effective and commonly used.
