Heya!!

x/10 + y/5 = 14

5x + 10y = 14×50

5 ( x + 2y ) = 14×50

( x + 2y ) = (14×50)/5

x + 2y = 140 .... Equation ( i )

And

x/8 + y/6 = 14

6x + 8y = 14× 48

2 ( 3x + 4y ) = 14×48

3x + 4y = ( 14 × 48 )/2

3x + 4y = ( 7 × 48 )

3x + 4y = 336..... Equation ( ii )

Equation i and ii are required Equation in two variables ( x , y )

Answer:

x = 80, y = 30

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

(i) (x/10) + (y/5) = 14

(ii) (x/8) + (y/6) = 15

On solving (i) * 30 & (ii) * 36, we get

⇒ 3x + 6y = 420

⇒ (9x/2) + 6y = 540

  -----------------------------

   -3x/2 = -120

     x = 80

Substitute x = 80 in (i), we get

⇒ 3x + 6y = 420

⇒ 240 + 6y = 420

⇒ 6y = 180

⇒ y = 30.

Therefore, the values of x and y are 80 and 30.

Hope it helps!
