Basically the formula of ethanol is C2H5OH and as you must be knowing, molar mass is the total mass of the 1 molecule of the given compound. So we can get the molar mass of any compound by simply adding up the mass of the constituent atoms and multiplying it by the no. Of atoms if multiple ATO at present. Since Ethanol has 2 carbon atoms 6 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom so we can get the molar mass of Ethanol as 2x(molar mass of carbon) + 6x(molar mass of hydrogen) + 1x(molar mass of oxygen) i.e. 2x12 + 6x1 + 1x16 = 24 + 16+ 6 = 46.

Molecular Mass of C6H14
= 12*6 + 1*14
= 86u

Molecular Mass of C2H5OH
is 12*2 + 5*1 + 1*16 + 1*1
= 46u
